January
Grandparents day
was celebrated in the school on 30.1.13.
February
-The pupils enjoyed a percussion workshop on 1.2.13. Great fun was had listening to percussion instruments and making storm sounds.
-Well done to Kate, Clare, Caoimhe, Ronan, Joseph, Erin, Chloe and Shane for representing the school in The Credit Union Quiz on 4.2.13.
-Sincere thanks is extended to those who
fundraised for the school and partook in Travara swim on St. Stephen's Day. Click here to see the cheque being presented to Urhan NS. Míle Buíochas!
-Second class celebrated The Service of Light on 16.2.12. Well done Jerome and Emma.
Operation Transformation- the senior room have been 'Stepping it up' this month and have made up a dance routine to Opeartion Transformation's song 'Step it up'. Ms Harrington sent their video clip off to RTE and, best of all, the video footage of their dance was shown on Operation Transformation.
March
Wood carver Ben Russell is working with the senior room on a woodwork project based on the Beara Peninsula. Keep an eye on our website for pictures of the finished project.
Seachtain na Gaeilge: The junior room were treated to a session of Irish songs performed by the Senior Room, featuring songs such as 'Galway Girl' by Mundy and 'What makes you beautiful' by One Direction. Bhí sé go hiontach.
Pupils from 3rd - 6th class had great fun at a
blitz day held in Adrigole on 20th March.
April
The first day back after the Easter holidays, April 8th, we attended the Lifetime Lab and had a great day at the science workshop.
On April 10th fifth and sixth class and also Ryan, Steven and Gavin attended an
awards ceremony in Silver Springs. The pupils received awards for fantastic history projects they completed on The Berehaven Copper Mines and their grandparents. This was part of the Discover Cork Heritage Project which the school was delighted to perform so well. Well done to all involved.

September
We extend a special welcome to our new pupils in second and fourth class and to our five Junior Infant pupils. We hope that they will be very happy in Scoil Náisiúnta Oir Cheann.
October
We all dressed up for Halloween.
November
The senior room enjoyed an informative visit to the Allihies Copper Mine Museum. It was an interesting visit which culminated in an excursion to the Mountain Mine where the pupils searched for copper. The pupils are working on a Discover Cork project on the mines and are fascinated with the topic at the moment.
December
The pupils performed a wonderful Christmas Show on 12.12.12.
Congratulations to the pupils who helped Ms. Harrington raise €750 for Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. Beautiful cards were designed by the pupils to raise funds for this worthy cause.
